Pet Portraiture
Pet Portraitures are consistant with the ideology of a shared narrative. They tell our story, they become adjuncts to our identity and their relationship is to who we are as people. There is a discourse between human and animal that transcend a specific time and space.
Animal portraiture painting is based on a long tradition, beginning in the Renaissance. Pet portraiture had a symbolic significance to Patrons painting itself. Dogs were considered symbol of fidelity. Queen Victoria, elevated pet portraiture with comissioned portraits of all of her dogs.
We love our quadrapod friends. Their personalities fill up our spaces and become valued members of our symbolic "pack." The Pet Portraiture series has become a significant addition to creative arts.
